Teaching Parents the Positive Discipline Way

What: This 2 day certification training will provide experience, materials, skills, and theory in teaching Positive Discipline in different settings for parents, caregivers, and community members. Participants will know how to use the agendas provided for use in class series for different age groups as well as for specialty populations or in home visits. Additional materials will be available for purchase including books in Spanish, and for parenting in recovery, for preschoolers, and teens etc. Participants who attend the training will also be invited to a monthly area Mentor’s Group to further their professional development and networking.

Reducing The Effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences on Teens – A Path to Resilience and More
What: A follow up workshop for the sold out ACE Study Conference will be held this month! This workshop, organized by the Walnut Avenue Women’s Center is a full day seminar on Integrative Approach to Youth Development and how it can be implemented to:

  • mitigate the effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE)
  • increase student achievement and improve school climate
  • increase civility (reduce bullying behaviors) in the classrooms and on the streets
  • increase thriving (reduce risk behaviors) in our youth through community engagement
  • become the measurable outcome of your collective impact effort

The methods learned in this training can be integrated into your youth and/or coalition work without representing something more to do.

Adverse Childhood Experience Study Conference
